Gramicci x Rab Kinder Smock

When we curated our Gramicci x Rab collection, we knew there could be no collab without Rab's classic Kinder Smock. A Rab Carrington original design first manufactured in 1986, it quickly became a favourite on the Sheffield climbing scene. Brightly coloured and easily picked out against the dark gritstone, it was a must-have for climbers, offering comfort and instant warmth for long days at the crag. Nearly 40 years later, Rab still see much-loved original Kinder Smocks arriving at their Service Centre for washes and repairs. This is a jacket you hold onto for years to come. 

The first Kinder Smock broke ground as exceptionally lightweight and packable for its time, helping to secure Rab's place as the insulation experts. Our Gramicci x Rab collab was a chance to continue this journey, and use new technologies and constant innovation to elevate an icon. 

With a fresh design that maximises its hallmark vintage style while boosting its technical credentials, the Kinder Smock is back with a higher fill power down and lighter weight fabric. The 800FP goose down offers superb warmth for weight, while the Pertex® Quantum Pro is protective, weather-resistant, and highly durable. The jacket’s signature pull-on design ensures it won’t interfere with your harness or belay device, and features a relaxed fit and wide opening for easy over-the-head. One thing remains the same now as it was four decades ago: there is nothing like the warm, reassuring feeling of throwing on your Kinder at a cold belay or round the campfire.
